is a freelance writer, editor and video blogger who, at age ten, used to take her parents’ battered encyclopedias and write research papers about polar explorers...for fun.
While she’s yet to make it to the South Pole, her curiosity about science and the environment has been the impetus behind her journalism career.
In 2006, Christina received the Internews Greek Cultural Fellowship and traveled to Athens to research its underground sex trade. In 2007, she was awarded Small Business Journalist of the Year for Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska by the Small Business Administration. As the former multimedia and gear editor for the quarterly mountaineering magazine, Alpinist, and as a former assistant editor (read: thesaurus-toting gearhead) for Outside magazine’s biannual gear guide, she played key roles in the development of online stories at both publications.
She’s written about human rights, business, gear, elite athletes and emerging green technologies for half a dozen Iowa newspapers, The New York Times, Men’s Journal, Foreign Policy, SNEWS, Travel + Leisure, Skiing, Outside, Outside’s Go, Outside Buyer’s Guide and Outside Online.
Christina is based in Boulder, Colorado. When not writing, you can find her climbing, biking and exploring the front range with her mutt, Santiago Domingo. Please contact her at christina.erb@gmail.com.
